Rabokki (Tteokbokki Recipe with Ramen)

Classic Korean comfort food with ramen and rice cakes in a sweet, spicy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb Rice Cakes Cylinder shape
  • 3 sheets Oden
  • 2 stalks Green onion Cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 800 ml Korean broth base, chicken broth, or water
  • 1 pack Ramen noodles

Tteokbokki Sauce

  • 2-3 tbsp Korean Red Chili Powder Make sure to use the fine powder
  • 0.5 tbsp Korean Curry Powder
  • 1 tbsp Gochujang
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dasida Optional, You can find this at the Korean market
  • 2 tbsp Oligodang Syrup
  • 6 cloves Garlic Minced

Instructions

  • Mix all sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. Soak rice cakes in cold water and set aside. Cut oden into bite size strips. Make Korean broth (if using). You can use this recipe
  • Add 800 ml of broth to a pot with your sauce. Stir to incorporate into broth and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Let this boil for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, boil a small pot of water and cook your ramen noodles for about 1 minute and then drain.
  • Drain your rice cakes. Add oden and rice cakes to the pot with the sauce and broth. Reduce heat to medium and cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add in your green onion and ramen noodles. Add in a little more broth, or water if there is not enough sauce. Mix to combine and serve topped with sesame seeds.
